With more than 26 years of experience as a cosmetic and plastic surgeon Jan V. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Harvard University and attended Duke University, where he received his Doctor of Medicine Degree. He took his residency in General Surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida and at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, California followed by a residency in Plastic Surgery at the University of Illinois Hospital in Chicago, where he was an instructor of in Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Karlin is a member of many local, national, and international medical societies. He has authored numerous articles in respected journals and has made many television and radio appearances, including CNN, KPLA, Eye on L.A., KMAX, KZLA and KGL. To ensure that he provides his patients with the most up-to-date techniques, he continuously participates in seminars and conferences.

Dr. Karlin, known by former patients as "the best surgeon" in Palm Springs in performing facial, breast, and liposuction surgeries, is also skilled in performing a variety of plastic, cosmetic and reconstructive surgeries. These include breast augmentation; breast reduction; laser facial resurfacing; face, neck, and brow lifting; eyelid surgery; rhinoplasty; BOTOX®;  Vaser Hi Def and most other cosmetic procedures.
