Nova Cosmetic Center and Orlando Medical Spa - BOTOX® Treatment for Hyperhidrosis
|
BOTOX® Cosmetic Treatment for Hyperhidrosis |
Hyperhidrosis is a condition involving excessive sweating and is sometimes accompanied by bad odor.
Underarm sweating that is not effectively managed with topical agents can now be treated using BOTOX®.
The excessive underarm sweating is caused by unusual working of the sympathetic nervous system which regulates the production of sweat. Over-activity of this system results in a production of sweat that exceeds our body’s requirement for maintaining a healthy temperature.
This FDA approved treatment helps control this condition by temporarily blocking the chemical signals to the sweat glands. These signals respond to emotional stresses, like physical stress, public speaking, and incresed body temperature.
At Nova Cosmetic Centers, we use BOTOX® to help hyperhidrosis excessive sweating patients throughout greater Orlando and the Central Florida area to boost self-confidence. 100 units of BOTOX® are injected through a very small needle into the skin of each underarm. Not only do the BOTOX® injections help cease the excessive sweating, there may be simultaneous disappearance of odor associated with decreased sweating, but this is not permanent.

Can I resume normal activity after the injections? |
|
Normal activity may be continued directly following this procedure. Heavy exercise however should be avoided for a few hours following the treatment. |
|
|
When will I notice a difference after the Botox Cosmetic treatment for my underarms? |
|
In the first few months underarm sweating decreases. The full effect, sometimes including a reduction of sweat-related odor, can be noticed also. Most patients obtain the benefit of dryness with one treatment of BOTOX® for eight months or longer. After that the treatment has to be repeated.
The BOTOX® hyperhidrosis treatment also aids in decreasing sweating at nighttime.
